The tee is from a random, print-to-order t-shirt vendor at the Gibraltar Trade Center, which is a place that sort of...defies description. Picture a strip mall mixed with a warehouse mixed with a flea market... kind of. I call it "Five Wolf Moon".

In any case it amuses me to wear a bunch of super cheap-o clothes with nice boots. This plaid shirt, which I realize now is probably from Walmart (I got it at Plato's Closet, I think) is one of my all-time favorites, fraying hole in the seams and all. Ditto the jeans- a cheap Macy's brand that I also got at Plato's and love the crap out of. I'm terrified of the day they finally fall apart.

Bombasine- Sweater: Mossimo/Leggings: Alice + Olivia/Boots: Guess

Sweater: Mossimo
Leggings: Alice + Olivia
Boots: Guess

I love these leggings but they're extremely difficult to get into, and even harder to get out of- I keep worrying that the house will go up in flames while I'm half-dressed and hog-tied, trying to drag the tiny ankle openings over my heels...

Bombasine- Sweater: Mossimo/Leggings: Alice + Olivia/Boots: Guess

This sweater has great legging-butt-coverage (as I am so elegantly attempting to demonstrate, here.) Unfortunately the neck is unravelling, which is very annoying.

Not entirely sure WHAT is going on, here...

Outfit: August 14

Aug 15 2013

Shirt: Cha Cha Vente
Shorts: Cisono
Tights: DKNY
Boots: Hunter

I'm always a little proud of myself when I actually remember that rain calls for some sort of alteration in dressing procedures. I'll happily prance around in my boots on days that are barely damp, then when it's pouring, tell myself that sneakers and jeans will be just fine and totally won't mean my legs are cold and wet all day.

(I also like that everything but the boots came from discount/dirt cheap stores (hence, no links.) We'll talk about that soon.)

Here it is with complete bundling for optimal warmosity. Clashy sweater is "Maurice's" (I want to say it came from Victoria's Secret or something... it's really old. Need to get some new cardigans. Ehhh.) Hat is Sproinger.

I am super into this shorts-with-tights thing (as my pinterest will attest.) I like shorts, but hate having bare legs. I like tights, but am not super gung-ho about skirts... so basically, this is perfect. I'm so glad we're getting into the season where I can wear such a combo without looking completely insane (especially since Michigan decided that fall begins in August this year. I actually saw a tree changing colors already.)

^^^ and of course, the secret weapon to protect the toes of your tights. It won't, however, stop this from happening. Damn dogs. I really liked those tights, too :-(

Jeans: Grane

I'm making a real habit of wearing the same thing for two posts in a row, huh? Oh well. I've never done the transparent-shirt-visible-bra thing much but we were going to a late night drag show and it seemed fitting enough. You can't really see it but I was so pleased with my make-up that night. I used the DIY luminizer (which Travis thinks I should make and market as Extra Fatal Lady Shimmer) instead of lipstick and really loved the effect. I used the original RMS stuff (because it's sparklier) on top of my eyeshadow which I also recommend (just don't fuck it up because it's sticky and not going anywhere.)

We're planning to move soon and I can't wait to have a nice, non-dark-and-beige place to take these photos. Shooting in RAW hides a multitude of sins (you should see this unedited) but it can't do everything. Bleh.

Outfit- May 16

may162013

Oh snap, did I just do the second outfit post ever after a long delay and totally wear the exact same sweater? Yes, yes I did. But it's a good sweater. Also, look, a hype button! I barely know what it does but I think if you click it, good things happen somehow.

Tank: James Perse - it is a very pale minty green though you can't quite tell.
Tee: "One Step Up" ie super cheap shitty tee that they sell for $5 around here. You'll notice I have a bunch of those, from like three different brands.
Jeans: Grane Jeans- this is such a weird brand, I found this pair secondhand and it fits me better than any pants I've ever owned. But I keep trying to get another semi-duplicate pair off ebay (same brand, size, and in one case style) and all the other ones fit like crap.
Boots: Minnetonka fringe boots. I think this style was discontinued- I found them on sale at DSW, whoopwhoop!

Styling tip: See how I have a wide horizontal band of light color around my hips? Both the horizontal-ness and the light color will make them look wider, especially on top of the black jeans (which have the opposite effect, being vertical and dark.) If you're like me and don't have a ton of curves, it's a neat trick. My hips are one of my more lady-like features so I don't have a problem with playing them up. But if you're not looking to widen your hips (which most people aren't, I think) then darker colors and avoiding horizontal lines there would be better (maybe by having a longer top layer that covers the bottom layer).

Other styling tip: Who am I kidding, 80 degrees is too hot for a hat and cardigan. I cling desperately to fall fashion all year round, I'm afraid.
